Course Overview
This nationally recognised course is designed for both new and experienced personnel required to work safely at heights at an operational level. It is particularly suited to those in the resources and infrastructure industries.
Participants will be exposed to a range of height-related risk situations and learn how to implement safe working procedures in line with legislative and regulatory requirements.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, students will be able to:
Identify risks and implement appropriate control measures
Interpret and apply risk assessment documentation and safety information
Understand the strengths and limitations of fall protection equipment
Correctly install, fit, adjust, and anchor fall protection systems
Perform two practical scenarios demonstrating safe work at heights

Delivery Options & Duration
Refresher (Face-to-Face): minimum 4 hours
Standard Face-to-Face: minimum 7 hours
Online + Face-to-Face assessment: ~3.5 hours online + 3 hours face-to-face assessment
Entry Requirements
Participants must:
Provide valid photo identification
Be physically and psychologically capable of meeting course demands (lifting, climbing, PPE use, accessing heights >2m)
Wear protective slip-resistant footwear and practical clothing
Have adequate LLND skills (language, literacy, numeracy, digital) to complete training and assessment
Have access to a digital device and internet if completing online learning
Assessment
Performance Tasks:
Scenario 1: Work safely at height – brittle surface
Scenario 2: Work safely at height – flat surface
Documentation: Equipment Fault Log
Theory Assessment: Multiple choice and short-answer questions
Certification
Students who successfully complete this course will receive a Statement of Attainment for RIIWHS204E – Work safely at heights.
