CPR Training – HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
Cardiac arrest is a life-threatening emergency where urgent medical care is essential. Quick recognition, immediate CPR, and the use of an AED can make the difference between life and death.
This nationally recognised CPR course teaches you the skills and confidence to act in an emergency, in line with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines.
Course Overview
In this course, you will learn how to:
Recognise and respond to a cardiac emergency
Call for medical assistance effectively
Perform CPR on adults and infants
Safely use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Rotate rescuers with minimal interruption to compressions
Manage situations such as casualty vomiting or regurgitation
Provide accurate incident details to emergency services
Review an incident and recognise psychological impacts on self and others
Units Delivered
On successful completion, participants receive:

Course Delivery Options
This course can be delivered in your workplace or at a facility organised by the training provider.
Course durations may vary. Minimum contact times include:
Refresher (with online study): 1 hour 30 mins face-to-face
Online with face-to-face assessment: 2 hours face-to-face (with pre-course online study & in-class assessment)
Face-to-face assessment: 3 hours face-to-face
Entry Requirements
Ability to perform CPR on the floor (adult manikin) and on a firm surface (infant manikin)
Sufficient spoken and written English to make accurate verbal reports
For online study options: access to a computer/tablet/phone with internet and ability to complete online modules
Assessment Requirements
Assessment includes:
Practical:
Perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on adult and infant manikins
Demonstrate AED use and casualty rotation in a team scenario
Manage an unconscious casualty (airway positioning, vital signs, recovery position, incident reporting)
Theory:
Multiple-choice written assessment
Certificate Renewal
The industry recommends renewing CPR certification every 12 months.
