RIIWHS202E – Enter and Work in Confined Spaces

RIIWHS202E – Enter and Work in Confined Spaces

Course Description

The unit RIIWHS202E – Enter and Work in Confined Spaces provides participants with the essential skills and knowledge to safely enter and work in confined spaces across a range of industries. Confined spaces such as tanks, silos, pits, and pipelines present significant hazards, making this training vital for those working in construction, mining, utilities, manufacturing, and other sectors where confined space entry is a routine requirement.

Students will learn to:

  • Identify confined spaces and assess potential risks.

  • Follow safe work procedures to minimise hazards such as toxic atmospheres, restricted airflow, or limited escape routes.

  • Correctly use personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Conduct atmospheric testing and implement emergency response procedures.

  • Apply safe entry and exit techniques.

  • Maintain effective communication and comply with WHS/OHS regulations.

This unit is designed for workers, supervisors, and safety personnel. Training combines both theoretical and practical components, ensuring participants can confidently apply best practices and regulatory requirements in real-world situations.

Upon successful completion, students will be prepared to work safely and effectively in confined spaces, protecting themselves and others in the workplace.
