BDA Training + Fire Safety Advisors Queensland
At BDA Training + Fire Safety Advisors Queensland, we know that fire safety is not just about ticking boxes—it’s about protecting lives, property, and ensuring compliance with Queensland legislation. With over 25 years of frontline firefighting and emergency services experience, our team is dedicated to helping businesses and organisations create safe workplaces, prepare for emergencies, and meet their legal obligations under the Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008.
A Fire Safety Advisor (FSA) is more than a compliance requirement—they are a trusted partner in ensuring your business is ready for any emergency.
Our Fire Safety Advisor Services
Fire and Evacuation Plan Development
Every workplace is different, which is why we customise Fire and Evacuation Plans to your site’s unique risks, staff, and operations. Our FSAs ensure your plan complies with Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008 and Australian Standard 3745-2010, addressing:
Emergency response procedures
Evacuation coordination methods
Identification of evacuation routes and assembly areas
Fire risk assessments specific to your site
We also provide clear, practical documentation that your staff can follow confidently during a real emergency.
Fire Safety Audits and Compliance Reviews
Regular audits are critical to maintaining compliance and avoiding costly penalties. Our FSAs conduct thorough reviews to ensure:
Fire and Evacuation Plans and Diagrams are up to date and displayed correctly
Prescribed fire safety installations are documented and maintained in line with requirements
Records and registers are complete, accurate, and compliant with WHS and Queensland legislation
We provide actionable reports and recommendations so you can address any issues before they become compliance breaches.
First Response and Evacuation Training
Even the best plans mean little if staff are not trained to respond. We deliver engaging and practical training so your team knows exactly what to do when seconds count. This includes:
First response instructions – teaching staff how to safely respond to fire and emergencies
Evacuation coordination training – preparing wardens and leaders to manage orderly evacuations
Evacuation drills – conducted on a regular schedule to build confidence and capability
Training is tailored to your workplace and designed to meet the requirements of AS 3745 and Queensland legislation.
QFES Requirements and Collaboration
Our Fire Safety Advisors liaise directly with Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) during inspections and compliance checks. We ensure your workplace is prepared, documentation is in order, and your organisation meets all requirements under the Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008 and relevant Australian Standards.
This proactive collaboration reduces the risk of non-compliance, supports a positive relationship with regulators, and gives you confidence that your site is fully aligned with QFES expectations.
Custom Fire Safety Consulting
No two buildings or businesses are alike. Whether you manage a high-rise office, industrial facility, retail space, or licensed venue, our FSAs provide customised fire safety consulting to:
Identify and assess fire hazards specific to your site
Develop tailored fire safety strategies
Advise on best practice for emergency procedures
Integrate compliance into everyday operations
We help you go beyond the minimum standards, embedding a culture of safety that protects both people and property.
When Is a Fire Safety Advisor Required?
Under the Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008, a Fire Safety Advisor must be appointed in:
High-occupancy buildings – Class 2, 3, 5, 6, 7b, 8, 9a, or 9b workplaces with 30 or more workers
High-rise residential – Class 2 or 3 buildings exceeding 25 metres in effective height
Licensed premises and at-risk sites – as identified by the QFES Commissioner
Even if your building is not legally required to appoint an FSA, many businesses choose to engage one to strengthen compliance, reduce risks, and improve staff preparedness.
What Does a Fire Safety Advisor Do?
Our FSAs provide a complete range of fire safety functions, including:
Developing and reviewing Fire and Evacuation Plans and Diagrams
Conducting annual compliance reviews to ensure documentation remains current
Delivering evacuation training, first response instructions, and practical drills
Performing fire safety audits aligned with Queensland legislation and Australian Standards
